The Ottawa Press Gang is an informal and determinedly unorganized group of letterpress printing enthusiasts who endeavor to practice, preserve and promote the art of letterpress in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec region of Canada.
Made up of an assortment of private presses, commercial printers, artists, hobbyists and people who are interested in letterpress, the Ottawa Press Gang gives its members, friends and anyone with an interest in printing a friendly community in which to exchange information and experience, and otherwise provide each other with mutual support and encouragement.
Interested members of the group meet on the third Sunday of every second month for a "Wayzbrunch", and we maintain an ongoing email list. The Ottawa Press Gang usually has a table at the biannual Ottawa Small Press Book Fair and at the Book Arts Show and Sale run by the local Ottawa & Valley chapter of CBBAG (the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild). Many of our members also participate in other book arts and letterpress events, including the annual Grimsby Wayzgoose and the OCADU Book Arts Fair.
If you would like to be added to the Ottawa Press Gang email list or to attend one of our Wayzbrunches, please email: grungepapers (at) sympatico (dot) ca.
Weathervane Press, one of the member presses of the OPG, prints (by letterpress!) a quarterly newsletter called the Letterpress Gazette. If you wish to purchase the latest copy or subscribe to the Gazette, please email Weathervane Press at: weathervane (at) sympatico (dot) ca.
